Disabled eth0 after kernel upgrade

Hi all,
I just upgraded my kernel from 2.2 to 2.4 and on boot "Device eth0 not
found". I tried to use modprobe 3c59x but failed. System printed that it may
be problem with the insmod configuration's IRQ.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Did you compile the driver as a module or into the kernel itself.

Also, what lines do you have in /etc/modules.conf (/etc/modutils/* on
Debian) that mention "alias eth0".

I used apt-get install kernel. to install the new kernel. my modules.conf
doesn't have any entries for eth0.

If you are using Debian, try modconf.
