I have just installed DSL and when I power up my machine Win98 pops up a
network password window . I am the only one on the network and I do not want
this window popping up. If I don't click Cancel or OK on it within a short
time it hangs up my computer and I have to shut down and reboot again.
How do I disable this window from popping up?
Thanks. Helen

Go to Control Panel | Network and set the primary network logon to
Windows Logon. Reboot, and log on with a user name and no password.
It won't ask for a logon again.

I tried the Windows Logon approach as well, but no luck. I changed the
Primary Network Logon to Client for Microsoft Networks, rebooted, then
changed back to Windows Logon. I have tried using multiple new user names
w/o passwords. I've deleted the *.pwl files, and used msconfig to uncheck
every option for Password Lists. I Keep getting the logon screen.

Please Advise

Using Windows Logon can't eliminate the logon prompt in these cases:

1. Logging on to a Windows NT/2000 server.

2. If you've enabled multiple user profiles.

If either of those applies, use Tweak UI to log on automatically. Go
to the Logon tab and configure it. For information on how to download
and install Tweak UI, see this site:
