disable netbios via dhcp

Hi,

is there any possibility to tell a windows client via dhcp not to use
netbios, and to disable netbios.

Why are you even using netbios in the first place? The standard protocol in
windows is netbios over IP. Also, I know of nothing in dhcp that will tell
a computer to not use a protocol. Perhaps you'd get a usable answer, if
you'd tell us more about what you want to do.

Looks like it can be done if you're using a MS dhcp server :

But...this requires Windows netbios settings to be "Use netbios settings
from the dhcp server", and AFAIK that is not the default. So you'd
still have to manually make a change on all clients.

Assuming ( since you posted to a Linux newsgroup ) that your dhcp server
is not Windows based, I don't belive that option is available. At least
on ISC dhcpd.
