Because I cant find it at any stores. They all seem to
have no stock for it. Also at the Official MS Broadband
networking website it lists "this data wont be avaible
after December 2004, only help files will be avaiable". I
have a feeling that they discontinued them for whatever
reason. Do you guys know if this is true? I bought a MN-
100 Wired router in 2002 and its worked great. Now Im
looking for a Wireless router and I wanted to get the MN-
700 one (I think thats the right model #). Im also looking
for a USB Network Adapotor (Which I was able to find at a
store in stock)

Yes, they are discontinuing their broadband hardware
line. Most places that carried their hardware is having
great sell out deals. Don't expect driver updates for any
of this stuff.

ah really??? Yeah I went into a store today and asked
about it and the lady said they discontinued them over a
year ago!!! God Im out of the loop... is there any reason
why they got rid of them? Because instead I had to buy a
Linksys one, which works good, but I prefer MS products.

You haven't missed it for that long, Robbie. Microsoft discontinued in base
stations and adapters (except the MN-740 Xbox adapter) in May this year.

I'm not sure if they have any left but on the 27 Nov. 04 I bought a MN-700
with notebook card for $80 CAD It was on-line only deal at Future Shop.ca.
There was one MN-700 with desktop card in the store at South Keys for any one
in Ottawa (reduced price and open-box table) Mine works well and talks to a
netgear card in a desktop perfectly.

Yes, correct. The MN-740 came from the Xbox group, and is still produced.

Before you do (and I run one), remember the MN-740 does not do WPA
encryption, only WEP. If you're running WPA on your LAN, you're going to
need to drop it back to WEP for the Xbox to work with the MN-740. I live in
a rural area, with no other wireless close enough to "see" me, but if you
were in a close residential setting like an apartment complex, you may want
to investigate alternatives.
