I did an AOL 1m install for a customer last night -- actuall driver
install took about two seconds but before that you have to sit through
an audio visual howto install that takes about 30 minutes and is aimed
somebody with the IQ and computer ability of Arnold Rimmer. The modem
supplied was a BT Voyager -- a much nicer bit of kit than an Alcatel
Speedtouch.
Laying aside the rest of the AOL junk the rest of the story is that
under the ADSLGuide test the connection was fast, very close to a true
1mb down and at 256 very fast up to the net. But browsing isn't
noticeably faster than a standard 512 connection.
