Hi all,

I have a windows 2000 server PC on which I have have setup a dialup
connection to a private network (using domain server). If I go straight to
the dialup connection (double click on the dialup network connection) type
in the correct username password and domain click on connect and it works
fine. I have saved the password because I want to enable automatic connect.

I have also setup the internet settings to dial this connection for the
internet, bearing in mind I said each time I directly go the to dialup
connection it works, if I try to open IE and IE trys to dial the connection
if fails saying 'invalid username or password'. I have checked the settings
and all the settings are fine. The only difference I have noticed with the 2
dialup connection boxes is that the one that comes up with IE doesn't say
anthing about a domain server. I have tried setting the username to
DOMAIN\UserName but it still doesn't make any difference.

If anyone could help me figure out why it won't authenticate when using IE
auto dial I would be very much appreciative.

Thanks
Gav

If you have saved the correct username and password for the connection
you shouldn't need to enter anything when you connect through IE. You
shouldn't even get a prompt - it should just dial out.

On the dialup connection properties, clear the boxes for "prompt for
name and password" and "prompt for phone number".

It does dial out automatically but it says invalid username or password when
connecting though IE but works fine if I double click on the connection
itself (do not go through Internet connection settings)
