Dialup problems (random disconnect

I've been having a lot of problems with my dial up modem disconnecting
at random. I am dual booting between Fedora Core 2 and Windows XP Pro.
The modem connects with no problems what so ever in Windows to both the
MUN and CS Dialup pools. However, I get completely random disconnects
within Linux. I'm using the slmodemd driver demon (I think that's what
you would call it) and Kppp with the following pppd option's:

user username
crtscts
defaultroute
modem
asyncmap 0

I have also had to manually input DNS server addresses.

When I dial up and loose connection, it seems as though the remote
server just decides to ignore my connection. The problem will persist
and I will have to log back in again. This doesn't happen in Windows,
would anyone be able to help?

Dave

Try adding these options:
lcp-echo-interval 30
lcp-echo-failure 2

Thanks a lot. This seems to have extended my sessions, but I still get
it after 45 mins or so, nothing I can't live with. Thanks again, the
help is much appreciated.
