Like many people I'm my dad's unpaid IT help desk. I have to fix his
machine tonight.

He's bust his narrowband dialup modem.
Can my unused spare Sagem 800 broadband modem be used for narrowband
dialup?

And no, he won't move to broadband yet - hell, I've tried to convince
him....

Thanks

Charles

No I'm afraid that's not possible: a broadband modem will only work with a
broadband-enabled line and won't even try to dial up over the voice
frequencies of the line.

I think you'll need to replace his dial-up modem with another PCI one or
else with an external USB one.
