I am currently having problems with Dial-Up connections.
The problem started soon after I upgraded to Broadband,
using a USB modem to connect.
On installation of the software ( and subsequent re-
installation of the software ) the connection works OK,
but once you disconnect from the internet, shut down and
start up again, and attempt to use the USB port, I receive
an error message with something around the Telephony
Subsubstem, and double click the connection in the dial-up
box to close the connection.
To me this looks like a problem with closing the
connection, so that when you re-attach the modem, it
thinks that it still has an active connection.
I believe that this ( or other software ) is attempting to
dial-up at startup, so will use the Connections - Never
dial a connection to solve this, but do not know if this
si the route of the problem.
I have been in contact with my ISP and they state that the
problem is with Dial-Up connection, and that some of the
files have been corrupted. Sounds easy enough to fix, but
when I purchased my PC the software was already installed
and I do not have a Windows ME installation disk.
So, does anyone know where I can download the dial-up
connection files, or in fact have any other idea of what
the problem is, or more to the point, how to fix it. I
believe that I am looking for either Dial-Up Networking
1.3 or 1.4
Thanks in anticipation
