Dial-Up / LAN Compatability?

I am new to networking. Beginning to install a home network (2 Computers,
LinkSys DSL Router to ISP) and subscribe to a new ISP Provider. My current
ISP does not support DSL in my area. I will need to support 2 providers
until I can update my new Email address at various sites.

After beginning to install the LAN, I went to connect to my Dial-Up provider
and the system appeared to be waiting for the connection on the LAN. Never
attempted a dial connection. The only way I could get it operational was to
reset the Network to the Windows Logon. This continues to work without any
problems.

I have not completed setting up the LAN, but I do not believe I should need
something like NetSwitcher to support a Dial-Up and LAN on the same computer
to independently control 2 environments.

Is there anything special that should be done to support both a Dial-Up and
LAN on the same system?
