I have Wanadoo Broadband and if I want to go on line I use the Speedtouch
short cut symbol to activate it. However if I open for example Outlook
Express before I go on line and send an email I get a dialup window
appearing as I used to get with Anytime. I have ticked never dial a
connection so why should I ever see a dialup connection window?

In Outlook Express, go to Tools, Accounts, Mail Tab, Double-click your mail
account, Connections Tab, Untick/Select appropriate choice.

That's right - Outlook /OE needs to be set up so that each email account (if
more than one) uses your internet connection. It is probably still pointing
at an old dial-up connection.

Amazing how often this one comes up, even after 6 years of dealing
with it, it will still throw me for a loop occasionally.

OP: Your best bet is to simply uncheck the 'always connect using' box,
then it will behave like a normal application and simply use the
connection available. Bear in mind that most email accounts from isps
will not let you send unless you're connected via their network
though. You may have to set all accounts to send using wanadoo's smtp
server for outgoing mail.

If you are using a Speedtouch USB modem everytime you access the web
you will bring up a DUN as it is the way that Windows deal with the
USB modems
