Hi!

I tried to install a DLINK DI-614+ WAN/WLAN-router with an ADSL-modem
and a USB DWL-120+ on a client PC.

setting up the router with the ADSL-modem worked fine, I connected one
WINDOWS-98 PC with a patch.cable
via the hub-interface to configure it using the 192.168.0.1 webserver.

I went to a client-PC, 60 feet away and tried to install the DWL-120+ USB
WLAN-adapter
on a WINDOWS XP Professional machine.
I had a few problems during the installation-process the adapter wasnt
recognized after a
few reboots. Afterwards I couldnt make a connection to the DI-614+ access
point.
I treid almost everything including downloading the newest drivers for the
DWL-120+
but it didnt work.

After a while the DI-614+ stopped working and showed an error LED (M2).

I will change both parts but I would like to know, if it should be possible
to use
a WLAN over a distance of about 60 feet with some walls between ?
maybe I should look for another solution ?

any help with this would be greatly appreciated,
thanx in advance!

best regeards,
Hans Pesata

I use a DWL-120+ and DI-614+ over similar/ greater distances with no problems.
So it is nothing inherent. I did not have any installation problems under XP
Pro with the 1.01 drivers however-sounds like it is worth an uninstall and
reinstall anyway. And the 1.02 drivers on their site did cause problems. But
it sounds like you have a DI-614+ failure (at least).

thanx for your reply!

I decided to replace the two devices and give it another try.

Hans
