D-Link finally released the Super G (108 Mbps) firmware upgrade!

Any experiences?

Anyone get WPA to work?

I've been having trouble getting any security to work (WEP/WPA)

Router:
I set WPA-PSK
Entered a key (at least 8 characters)
Apply

Computer: (Win XP Pro)
I set WPA-PSK
Change to TKIP
Entered the key

Usually it will hiccough at first but I can get it to connect using security
intitally. After awhile (maybe after restart?) it just becomes completely
blind to the network. Can't even get into the router setup without a hard
reset!

Then I remove security (Open system) on both router and computer and it
works like a charm!

Why would it work initially w/ WEP/WPA and then not even be able to enter
router setup?

Any special steps people had to go through?
*I've tried power cycling the computer/cable modem/router

TIA

You don't mention what adapter you're using on your wireless client. I'm
assuming it's also a d-link card. I just went thru a dozen hoops getting
mine to work. Go to http://funk.com/radius/wlan/wlan_radius.asp and download
this demo from funk.com. Don't use the d-link utiluty, it is buggy at best.
This works! I tried the XP zero config utility but that also had problems.
Disable the XP util, install odyssey 2.2, reboot and your on your way. good
luck.

are you sure it's not the remote computer that's causing the problem?

for some reason, the dlink utility software forgets the WPA-PSK setting each
time you reboot on my remote system using a dlink dwl-g520 pci card. if you
notice, everytime you go to the encryption setting, it defaults to WPA
rather then WPA-PSK, no matter which one you're using. dlink claims that
this is fixed in their latest set of drivers- but that's incorrect.

in order to get around this, you need to re-enter the wpa-psk password
(code, whatever) each time you boot your remote computer. big hassle- I
hope they're working on a stable fix.

Cheers,
Paul

It seems to be working well for me (maybe the recent Dlink firmware
upgrade has something to do with it?). I have not experienced any of
the problems you mention below (eg, "blind to the network"), but I've
only been running it for less then a day. I'd be interested to know
if you change things to the following settings if things work ok. I
needed no external software (like Odyssey, etc).

Access point:
D-LINK DI-624 Rev C hardware, firmware rev 2.37 dated 2/23/2004

Wireless client hardware:
IBM Thinkpand T41 running WinXP using:
Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter
Firmware version: 410.5.14
Driver version: 1.2.1.1

D-Link settings:
Authentication = WPA-PSK

WinXP settings:
Network Authentication = WPA-PSK
Encryption = TKIP
