Hello,

I have a problem I am hoping you can help me with.

I have a wireless connection and Win98SE as an OS. It was working fine then it
started to act up. Now I can't get on the web using the connection. I ran spybot
just before it quit. Maybe a coincidence?

I have tried uninstalling the card software, and TCP/IP.

At the DOS prompt I can ping the router and www.google.com. Only works when I
have the router number in DNS and gateway in the network setting control panel.

I have two network cards. One on the MB and the other is the wireless PCI card.
I tried uninstalling TCP/IP for the onboard card.

I have changed DNS, Gateway, and IP address in the network settings area. I
tried manually entering the numbers and the automatic settings.

I ran winipcfg and the numbers were the ones I expected.

IP 192.168......
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.......

Even though I can ping, ie5.5 will not surf the web. Page not found or something
like that.

I am out of ideas although I am going to see if spybot can reinstall the files I
deleted. My DSL service is earthlink so there should be no advertising with that
service.

Like I said, it worked great for several months.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Steve

Hi,

Thank you. It worked like a charm. Considering how many hours I played with it,
I was surprised it was that easy. Oh well.

Funny thing. When I went to uninstall dialup, it was not even installed?

Anyway I fixed it. Then I ran spybot and it quit working again. Strange.

I am getting fast at repairing it though.

Thanks again,
Steve
