Hi everybody,

I hesitate between DI-614+ and DI-714P+ routers from DLink. The print server
of the 714 is a nice feature but not the most important issue for me.

The 714 is advertised with "Stateful Packet Inspection" firewall, while 614
doesn't. Does SPI realy adds to Internet security for home use. On the other
hand, the 714 seems to have less filtering options.

Is this enough to choose the 714 over the 614 (for home use with XP and two
computers)?

Any opinions are welcome!

Saxo

I have the Dlink DI-614+ revision B
with 2 windows XP machines..

I cant do a comparsion between the two as this is my 1st wireless router.

I can say this. I have a cheap Belkin router at work and it completely
sucks.. almost no options inside. The Dlink 614= at home is great. Loads of
options and real easy to set up.. I'd buy one again if I had the need for
it.

The DI-614+ does do stateful packet inspection. It says so both on the box
and in the inquiry section of the knowledge base.

I have revision B of this router and love it. My only complaint is the lack
of
documentation for the advanced features.

You're quite right!

I find this amazing Dlink do not advertise this feature more visibly on its
web site, or elsewhere.
A "hidden feature", only visible in the knowledge base. The model available
at my local store is model A with two antennas, I'll have to read the fine
prints on the box.
