Is there a way that I can get the DWL-900AP to act as a client for
the DI-614+? (Apologies if this is a repeat, but the previous post
has not showed up now after about 10 hours.)

thanks,
hank

Should be possible (ary you shure that you mean 900AP not 900 AP+)
The 900 AP has same internals as the old Linksys WAP 11 v 1.1

You can use the Amitel utility to set client mode.
http://www.andrewhakman.dhs.org/wap1.../SNMPV1743.exe
mentioned in the http://www.seattlewireless.net/index.cgi/Wap11Hack.

If you have 900AP+, it's another story, go to the the advanced configuration menue.

Absolutely. The firmware versions even match (1.4j3.)

Thanks on a couple of accounts. First of all, I'll have to give the
hack a try. Second, I can Google for WAP 11 as well as DWL-900AP
for information on this device and lastly, the availability of a
hack tells me that there may be more available in the device than
what D-Link exposes in their config utility. (Now to google for a
SNMP tutorial.)

thanks again,
hank

Looks like you need the DWL-900AP+ which has 5 modes of operation
including Client.

Oops. Looks like is a 900AP should be able to act as a wireless client.

According to D-Link the 900AP can only be a client to another
900AP. :-(

IMO that hardly warrants listing operation as "A Client" on their
web page. It would better be described as "interoperates with
other 900APs.

well I have a 900+ and it can repeat other non-dlink AP's even tho dlink
says it only works with other dlink devices :-)

I have both a SMC 2655 (same internals as 900 AP) and 900 AP+.
They both works as clents to some other brands. But in some cases
they only accept one ethernet address on the wired side.
(one PC, or the WAN port on a SHO router).
Normally I use the 900 AP+ as client to the 2655. This woks fine for me,
but only when I use the old 2.3 FW on the 900 AP+.

Do a Google on WAP 11+client and you will find several posings.

The SMC 2655 has also the same internals.

Yepp, and client mode is one of the features.

There were several that indicated the WAP-11 will only interoperate
with another WAP-11 (AP)

A few had hints on how to set this up and I ried them anyway, but
with no luck.

regards,
hank
