DI-524 : unsure of wireless security

I am using a DLink DI-524 router. I do not have any wireless devices
presently to fully utilize my wireless router. I was curious, by not
setting up a specific MAC address, (because I do not have any) does
that leave my computer vulnerable to hackers?

I do have a unique username/password for changing the settings of
the router; does that help with the actual use of the router
connection?

PS If someone were to access my system wirelessly, what control would
they have?
would I see my mouse move radically?

*Are* you seeing your mouse move radically? If someone was using a remote
control program, like pcAnywhere, VNC, or Back Orifice, you would probably
see more than just mouse movement.

Looking at the DI-524 manual, I don't see a way to shut off the AP's radio.
The best thing to do is to configure encryption. The manual has a pretty
good explanation. Another tutorial can be found at:

Configure WPA-PSK. But also if you didn't have a wireless adapter you could
go under "Advanced" "Performance" and set all your wireless settings to the
worst options :-) Including transmit power to 12.5% .
