dhcp with usb-ether problem

I'm running Mandrake 10.0 on my laptop. I have an EtherFast 10/100 USB
adapter that was working fine with Mdk9.0's rtl8051 modual. Then I
upgraded to Mdk10.0, and now I'm perplexed.
When I do a fresh boot with the adapter plugged in, lsmod output
contains these lines:

Module Size Used by Not tainted
...
ipv6 232352 10
...
rtl8150 12032 0
uhci-hcd 29104 0
usbcore 99132 5 hid, rtl8150, uhci-hcd
...

Also, ifconfig eth0 produces:

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:20:78:10:CF:85
inet6 addr:fe80::210:60ff:fee8:1024/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTCAST MTU:1547 Metric:1
RX packets:78 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:78 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:56106 (54.7 Kb) TX bytes:2088 (2.0 Kb)

At this point, I run dhclient eth0, and get:

sit0: unknown hardware address type 776
sit0: unknown hardware address type 776
Listening on LPF/eth0/00:20:78:10:cf:85
Sending on LPF/eth0/00:20:78:10:cf:85
Sending on Socket/fallback
DHCPREQUEST on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67
DHCPREQUEST on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67
DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 12
DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 14
DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 17
DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 12
No DHCPOFFERS received.
No working leases in persistent database - sleeping.

All my LEDs are blinking, and I have no problem getting on-line with my
desktop, which is running Mdk9.2 with a tulip based card. My desktop
doesn't load the ipv6 module, which is what I tracked down sit0 to, but
that gets me to the end of my leads.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I have found an article on
http://archives.mandrakelinux.com/co...2/msg07945.php
that looks like a very similar problem - maybe it does something
for you.
