Hello,

I hope someone can shine some light on this for me..ive done some searching
on it but cannot find an answer.

Due to a certain software package in use at my company each workstation has
to have a specific ip to match with its hostname. Recently i at least
convinced our team to use DHCP reservations, for the central management,
instead of local static entires. This is working great. The odd thing is
that when i change the lease duration from the default 8 hours to unlimited,
i have valid client workstations that are showing as inactive within my
scopes. There didnt appear to be any communications issues with these
workstations at that time. Should I be concerned? -is this normal behavior in
a setup such as this?

Thank you for your help,
Kelly

Two things to check:

Do these clients have DHCP for address assignment enabled in their TCP/IP
properties?

Does the DHCP server scope or reservation have option 02 'Terminate lease
on shutdown' enabled?
