DHCP strangeness

I have a 2003 server network. Some workstations are static IP, and I have a
DHCP connected laptop.

The laptop connects fine to my servers and can access drives. For any
workstation on the network, the laptop can see it, but not access it's
drives (I need to access a couple). If I change the laptop to static,
problem solved.

So, I'm assuming I am missing something on the DHCP config settings, but I
just can't figure what.

Anyone have any ideas for me?

Thanks!

Set it to use DHCP

Run "IPCONFIG /ALL" and print out the result so you don't forget any of it.

Then set it to Static Addressing the same way that you did when it "worked".

Compare it to the printout to see what is different. The only thing that
should be different is just the IP# itself,...everything else should be the
same.

OK. Did that and all values are the same except the IP addresses and the
DHCP not enabled on the static one. The DHCP also shows auto configuration
which I assume is correct.

Any other thoughts? It's weird that the server drives will connect, but not
workstation drives - what could be different between those two? All are on
the same domain and subnet etc.

Thanks,

Well, I just had my static IP drop drives, so it looks like it's a wireless
issue. My notebook is connected wirelessly. Internet works fine though. But
there must be something there as wired machines do work fine. Guess I'll
start digging. It's a DLink 2100AP WAP and my notebook is an HP Pavilion
with Intel wireless if anyone has run across this before. Thanks!
