The DHCP service is not servicing any clients

Hi,

I have a strange problem since yesterday.

Since I applied the July hotfixes I get an Event ID 1041 error and PC
clients are left without IP addresses.

"The DHCP service is not servicing any clients because none of the active
network interfaces have statically configured IP addresses, or there are no
active interfaces."

I found the article 298490 but this doesn't solve anything and only repeats
the advice from the event viewer. Instead I found another glitch.

I have 3 NICs with static IP adresses, so I select one, click OK and when I
open the bindings again: None of the NICs are selected! (great)

So I disabled 2 of the 3 NICs and restart the DHCP service. (shouldn't be to
hard to choose an interface now) ...Still get the error event.

So I went through every warning event to find a side effect error, but with
no luck.

I ran out of ideas... how about You?

Some details on the environment:
---
Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 Edition SP2
ADC, DNS, DHCP
---

1. Make a copy of your "%systemroot%\system32\dhcp\backup\dhcpcfg" file.
2. Uninstall DHCP
3. Reinstall DHCP
4. Import your scope settings from your backed up "dhcpcfg" file.

Hello Mirco,

Did you use ADS?
This problem can also appear if the DHCP service and the ADS PXE service
are both installed and running on the same server.

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d....mspx?mfr=true

If you use a Dell server, do not install the Dell OpenManage software on
the server. It binds to the port when booting the computer and therefore
the DHCP server cannot bind to it. You can check this by running "netstat
-a -n -o" to find the process that is grabbing port 67 (DHCP Server) and
then uninstall that program from the server

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298490

Best regards

Well, I'm running WDS on this Server and there's no wdsdhcpconfig command

Only hint I found was to set both "Do not listen to port 67" and "set DHCP
option 60..." which where both checked in the WDS console.

No Dell server, thx.
