DHCP server without Active Directory

I have 2 networks setup (domain and workgroup). Both clients get
their IP through seperate DHCP.

|--public IP1-- NAT and DC (with DNS & DHCP) (17.16.0.1)
ISP -- switch
|--public IP2-- NAT and DHCP (same server) in workgroup
(17.16.1.1)

I have setup a stand alone (not part of the dc) DHCP server with NAT
(W2003) in a workgroup environment which worked fine for few months.
However last week, it disabled itself and ask me to authorize before I
can use it.

The event log has 1045 and 1052 which says it found the DHCP server in
public IP 1.
My question is since the DHCP server in workgroup environment has
never joint domain, can it coexist with the DHCP in the DC? Is there
anyway to workaroud it?
Tks

Looks like the machine in the workgroup is able to get responses for the informs from the DC DHCP machine. This will cause the workgroup server to stop. You can either prevent the communication between the two or make the workgroup server part of the domain to avoid this problem.

thanks,
Thiru
