DHCP server not configured with DNS dynamic ID

I have two DHCP servers that act as a back to the other. Unfortunately, one
of them (say server B) does not have the DNS dynamic update registration
credentials (DHCP-DNS updater id) As a result DNS has the server as the
owner instead of the id. If is add the Id to the credentials field on the
new DHCP server will it sill be able to renew the leases that are already
there (currently under the security contact of the server name).
