I can't release the IP address of 169.254.x.x
automatically assigned. When I tried to renew it, the
system comes back with an error message saying "DHCP
Server unavailable renewing adapter" Any ideas?

Hi Kurt,

Do you have other clients? If so can they get IP addresses? What device is
the DHCP server? If you assign a static IP address on the proper subnet can
you ping the DHCP server?

Thanks,
