Hello,
I have been looking at my DHCP leases and I have noticed that a certain
client machine is grabbing multiple IP addresses from my scope from both DHCP
servers. It is a Windows 2000 box. Hostname is Test2k2.
It has grabbed 6 IP addresses from Server1 scope and 3 IP addresses from
Server2 scope. They are listed as RAS under the Unique column.

I do not have any reservations set. I deleted the machines from my scope on
Tuesday and they have decided to show up again. I have verified that the host
test2k2 does not even have any IP addresses it is showing. This machine is
used to VPN to a client site using Cisco’s VPN client. When I run an ipconfig
/all, it gives me my LAN address as well as the clients IP address that has
been given to this host. It’s not even in the same subnet as my local LAN.

Server1
IP 192.168.4.10 - 11
Server2003
DNS
RAS - Scope is 192.168.4.100 - 124
DHCP – 192.168.5.100-174

Server2
IP 192.168.4.12
Server2003
DNS
RAS – DHCP Scope is 192.168.4.125 - 149
DHCP – 192.168.5.175-250

This is normal for RRAS.

Its odd that it only pulls this host. I have other Win2k boxes and they dont
list in there. Is there something on the win2k box that I can stop...like a
service or something?

thanks

Windows2000? You mean Server2000 with RRAS?

The host that is pulling the IP addresses is a Win2k Host. RRAS is running on
Server 2003
You say its normal behavior...With Windows 2000 Server it is?

Right. That's why I thought I'd better ask. I haven't seen Windws2000 Pro
do this, but the only way I could picture it happening is if you rigged the
Dial-up Networking in the Pro machine to accept incomming connections,...it
doesn't matter if it is by modem or VPN,..both are considered "dial-up
technologies" and would have the same effect.
