My bad for going to the MCE group but I thought this may have been an
MCX-related issue, but then, perhaps not. But at any rate...
I have finally gotten my WMP54AG NIC to connect wirelessly to my MCX using
the 802.11a side of my A+G NIC but the MCX still won't display the start up
screen and issues a "connected but still unable to receive a DHCP response"
advisory.
I thought static IP addresses didn't need a DHCP response. I've checked all
the DHCP ports (67 & 68) on the firewall (though F/W is disabled) and I
completely uninstalled NAV. I have Remote Desktop enabled and MCX1 selected.
I can get a start up screen on the MCX when using the wired connection via
the 802.11g channel from my external WRT54GS router but disconnects when I
select My TV or some other function that eats up bandwidth.
BTW, I was forced into using ad hoc mode on the internal A+G NIC cuz I
couldn't configure the A channel in the infrastructure mode nor would it even
transmit wirelessly on either channel. I'm assuming that the WMP55AG doesn't
need a complementary A or G signal to establish a "handshake."
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!
