Hi. I have a single 2003 DHCP server with a scope setup for our head office
and a DHCP server in each remote site. I am currently replacing the routers
in the remote sites with new routers to allow DHCP relay traffic so I can do
away with the DHCP servers in each site. I have setup new scopes for the
remote sites and they work fine for allocating addresses from their
respective pools. The problem I am having is that I have reservations set on
the head office scope for laptops for easy firewall admin. But when these
laptops go to the remote subnet and attempt to release and renew they always
pull the reservation setup for head office. I have tried setting up a
reservation for the laptops in the remote site but it still always pulls the
head office reservation. what am I doing wrong?
Thanks ins advance for any help

Howdy sorted it. was because I had setup a superscope. Problem solved when I
removed it.

You need to keep the DHCP in each site. Do you really want the sites "cut
off at the knees" if the WAN link goes down causing all of the machines to
not be able to get an address leaving them all helpless?

The sites need to maintain some amount of functionality if the WAN link goes
down. But you are leaving them with nothing.

Hi Phillip, thanks for the input but our remote sites are all thin clients so
will not work with no WAN connection anyway.

Regards
