DHCP Question

I created two new subnets. I moved two switches to one of the new
subnets and one switch to the other new subnet. We use a DHCP server
on one of the subnets that has all the scopes. IP Helper allows the
DHCP requests to pass through the router.

After moving the switches we went to the stations that were up and ran
ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew. The end stations got the IP
addresses from the new subnets.

My question is what happens to the old addresses? They are still in
the scopes that the end stations were using before they were moved to
the new subnets. I thought they would go away after their leases
expired but there has been no change in the last two day?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hello tman,

When did you change the clients? Your lease is 8 days and you talk about
2 days are gone now. Or did i misunderstood you about this.

We change the clients three days ago. Will the old leases go away
after they get aged out?

Thanks

Hello tman,

If i am not totally wrong it will keep the lease the complete period + 4
hours as a grace period. Then it should be deleted from the list. So you
have to wait or do it by hand.
