Hello,

I currently have our main office running on DHCP. We are in the process of
opening a remote office. I have setup a domain controller in a different site
with DHCP for the remote office. There is a permanent vpn tunnel between the
offices. My question is
what will stop a pc from my remote network from getting an address from my
main office? I have configured the remote office on a different network. So i
dont want pc's in the main office picking up an address from the remote
office or vice versa . Any ideas would be great. Thx

The process of obtaining an IP address from a DHCP server is initiated by
way of a broadcast discover packet from the client. Such broadcast packets
cannot cross routers. You could configure a relay agent specifically for
the purpose of intercepting discover packets and directing them to a server
on a remote subnet. But, the default behavior is that the remote office
DHCP clients can only get addresses from a local DHCP server.
