Hi all

To enhance the security, is it possible to assign the IP address to clients
only if their mac address is already registered in the DHCP database?

Thanks
BT

Yes, that is called a DHCP reservation.

The reservation, as suggested by Todd, will work fine for that. You can set
up a DHCP scope consisting entirely of reservations.

It should be noted, though, that this is not a serious security measure by
any means -- anyone wanting to make an unauthorized connection would simply
have to identify an unused address and the other settings (all of which is
easy enough) and set up a static configuration.

In news:O3$(E-Mail Removed),

As Chris mentioned, it is not really a security setting but rather to
control who gets what IP. As for as what you want to do, albeit not really
security, a 3rd party tool such as QIP or MetaIP will do that, but rather
expensive since it's an enterprise solution, and I think they're sold based
on blocks of thousands of users.
