If you are losing connectivity to the router, suspect
a) power-save features on the client PCs or NICs
b) defective PSU on your router.
I had a 3com router that worked fine but periodically my clients lost
connectivity. After much tearing of hair I reported it to 3com who
said it was due to a known power supply problem which overloaded some
electronic component, so they sent me a new PSU.
