I am experiencing a strange dhcp issue on my network. Currently I
connect all facilities via vpn tunnels from cisco routers(mostly 831
routers) to the corp office pix515. DHCP works for the most part and
machines get the correct address intended for the facility. But if one
of these machines are moved to another facility the dhcp servers are
giving out the old facilities address not an address from the facility
it is not at. All the routers have the helper addresses set in them and
I have two dhcp servers running Windows 2003 SP1 and fully patched, with
all scopes setup on both with the address ranges split in half.
so far to try and fix the issue I have deleted the old address from the
scope and restarting the dhcp services but that has not solved the
issue. So far the fix has been to deactivate the scope on the server
that keeps giving the address which forces the other server to provide
the address and it assigns the correct one for the facility and the
machine now works on the network. this issue happens with both servers.
The machines at the facilites are a mix from WinXP Desktop/Laptops also
HP and Wyse thin client terminals.
Any and all assistance with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to all,
Smitto
