DHCP DNS IP address

Hello all,
I have an Axess.Tel wireless modem AXWD800, I restored the modem to
factory settings and tried configuring (as per manual instructions) it
to obtain an IP address automatically, but all attempts failed, with
help I was able to input a static IP address and I am now able to
connect to the internet. Can anyone shed some light on what I am doing
wrong here.I contacted Axess.Tel, but they could not provide any help
due to contractual limitations.
