I agree with the other post by Lanwench have a proper hardware
router/firewall do the adsl/firewall/routing function. Have the server with
just one NIC enabled on the local LAN, its a much neater way of doing things.
Along with the sonicwall reccomendation i would also recommend netscreen
firewalls, made by juniper.
One other thought though, is your dhcp server configured to hand out
addresses on both interfaces, if it is not working on one then check it is
bound to both interfaces? It sounds like it may not be servicing dhcp
requests on the interface your clients are connecting on.
