DHCP on Belkin F5D7630

I have just got a Belkin 7630 ADSL Modem/Wireless router. The ADSL part
works fine as well as the wired connections using DHCP. Try as I might I
cannot get the 2 wireless PCI cards to talk to it. On my XP Home system I
see the message "Aquiring Network Address", and then nothing. The router
does not see the cards at all.
The PCI cards I have are EBuyer 802.11g 54mbs cards. I thought it may be the
cards at fault, but I have also tried with a D-Link PC card in my works
laptop, and still nothing.

The Router has DHCP enabled, WEP is set correctly on both the router and the
cards. If you look at the wireless netwok stats, there is only transmit
data, no receive data. Windows shows excellent strength and 54mbps speed.

As mentions, my PCs have both wired and wireless cards. The wired cards are
OK.

If I set the wireless card to a static IP address, windows shows the card as
connected, but the router does not show it, and no data gets received.

I used Zone Alarm, and McAfee VirusScan 8.0i., but as the wired cards are
OK, I do not see them as being the problem.

Can anyone help please.

Try using it without WEP (and disabling ZoneAlarm)- until you get it working
anyway, check all the equipment is using the same channel and that its all
set for Infrastructure mode and not ad-hoc mode

Make sure you select a channel ( some cards wont select automatically)
also, select the key 1, 2, 3 0r 4 (easy to forget to select)

There is no need (or even an option) to select the channel for a client in
infrastructure mode.

The problem is probably with your WEP keys. Maybe you entered ASCII keys
into one device and an ASCII passphrase into another. The third method of
entering keys is with hexadecimal (hex, for short) strings. Use the same
method on all devices.

Problem now fixed. Phone the Belkin help desk, who told me to take off WEP,
then establish the connection. Things are now OK, and have been able to put
WEP back on.
