Windows 2003 R2 Standard Dc Server SP2
DHCP server When the automatic backup runs it fails with following messages Event Type: Error Event Source: DhcpServer Event Category: None Event ID: 1014 Date: 3/11/2009 Time: 2:07:01 AM User: N/A Computer: TGCS001 Description: The following problem occurred with the Jet database -1032: Jet database read or write operations failed. If the computer or database has just been upgraded, then this message can be safely ignored. If this message appears frequently, either there is not enough disk space to complete the operation or the database or backup database may be corrupt. To correct this problem, either free additional space on your hard disk or restore the database. After you restore the database, ensure that conflict detection is enabled in DHCP server properties. For information about restoring the database, see Help and Support Center. Additional Debug Information: JetBackup. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Data: 0000: f8 fb ff ff øûÿÿ Event Type: Error Event Source: DhcpServer Event Category: None Event ID: 1016 Date: 3/11/2009 Time: 2:07:04 AM User: N/A Computer: TGCS001 Description: The DHCP service encountered the following error when backing up the database: An error occurred while accessing the DHCP database. Look at the DHCP server event log for more information on this error. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Data: 0000: 2d 4e 00 00 -N.. Event Type: Error Event Source: ESENT Event Category: General Event ID: 486 Date: 3/11/2009 Time: 2:07:01 AM User: N/A Computer: TGCS001 Description: tcpsvcs (2540) An attempt to move the file "C:\WINDOWS\System32\dhcp\backup\temp\" to "C:\WINDOWS\System32\dhcp\backup\new" failed with system error 5 (0x00000005): "Access is denied. ". The move file operation will fail with error -1032 (0xfffffbf8). For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Event Type: Error Event Source: ESENT Event Category: Logging/Recovery Event ID: 215 Date: 3/11/2009 Time: 2:07:01 AM User: N/A Computer: TGCS001 Description: tcpsvcs (2540) The backup has been stopped because it was halted by the client or the connection with the client failed. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Event Type: Error Event Source: ESENT Event Category: General Event ID: 484 Date: 3/11/2009 Time: 2:07:01 AM User: N/A Computer: TGCS001 Description: tcpsvcs (2540) An attempt to remove the folder "C:\WINDOWS\System32\dhcp\backup\temp\" failed with system error 145 (0x00000091): "The directory is not empty. ". The remove folder operation will fail with error -1022 (0xfffffc02). For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp Now this happens when it runs automatically When I run it manually I get no errors. Now I did read some things about this and I excluded folder c:\windows\system32\dhcp so I excluded that from my Kaspersky virus software My question is when does DHCP decide to do a backup? Is there a way to schedule it? Would like to know if I fixed this issue Thanks Tom |

Thanks for responding I did see those tow articles I use eventid alot. I already excluded the dhcp folder from my antivirus program. My only question now is how do I schedule backups for dhcp? I know it is automatic but do not know how to schedule it. I thought I found something in the registry but it looked like it was in milli seconds or something. If it is does a backup every so often I do not see it logged anywhere. Only time I knew of it running is when I saw those errors. Any ideas? Thomas,
DHCP will create a synchronous backup automatically by default every 60 minutes. This can be changed at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\DHCPServer\Parameters\BackupInterval Default Values = decimal 60 or 3c Hex. Do you want to go beyond this and create additional backups? -- Mark Parris MCSE: NT4.0, 2000, 2003 MCITP: EA, SA Founder: [ADUG] UK Active Directory User Group http://adug.co.uk "Thomas R Grassi Jr" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:(E-Mail Removed)... > Meinolf > > Thanks for responding > > I did see those tow articles I use eventid alot. > > I already excluded the dhcp folder from my antivirus program. > > My only question now is how do I schedule backups for dhcp?
