Hi

My customer want to install DHCP and they have 3000 client on a network with
very high bandwith 100MB/s/1 GB/s on all the network.
They want to have 2 DHCP-server for redundancy, and both server should
handled any client.

Is it still OK to use the 80/20 role, why not 50/50?

Any tips

Regrads Mikael

Hi Mikael,

You can use 50/50. That was also usually my practice.

Think about how to solve reservations (this is not related to 50/50
question). If you make MAC reservation for user's IP on one DHCP, the other
can still respond with some "random" IP number since reservations are not
replicated...

That's why I always configured both DHCP's identically in every way and keep
the number of Reservations to a minimum, then use the Exclusions to create
the 50/50. I prefer 50/50 rather than 80/20 since it would be my luck that
the "80" Server would go down and I'd run out of addresses before I could
get to it to adjust the Exclusions.
