I have been using version 2.10.09 for a long long time, and never had any
issues.

I have updated to the new firmware V 3.01.25 version, and have noticed one
problem intermittantly.

The DNS to IP name resolution stops working over the LAN.

Ie, I cant access any web pages using DNS names from any PC/laptop

TCP/IP programs like torrents, and uploads/downloads work fine.

Only way the DNS gets resolved is to reboot the router.

Anyone else having any isseues, or possible cures?

Thanks

Mike

Mike

I have exactly the same problem!

I couldnt access any webpages either. I then went back to Version 2
firmware - and still I had the same problem. I had to un-check the
Auto-Assign DNS server and manually put in the DNS server IP addresses ( I
am with Bulldog). And it's all working again now- finally. I never had a
problem with 2.10.09 either, so Im gonna stay with that now. Wish I hadnt
messed with it now, lol

Kam.

Bulldog have been having DNS server problems today - so your problems may
not have been with the new firmware...

Thanks for replies. Still faulty after various tests. Using Wanadoo ISP,
no probs before upgrade.

Can anyone tel me which is the best version of firmware of the following:- ?

v2.10.09
v2.10.17
v2 10.22 ?

Does any support the loopback interface? like version 3 does

Depends - there is no one best for eveyone..

If you have LLU/ADSL2/ADSL2+ the answer will be different - also if you just
have "standard" ADSL your DSLAM at your exchange could be from one of
several companies and have a different code on it from some other DSLAM's
etc within BT's network etc..

Its also worth considering v1.05 and others like v2.10.10 which are not on
the Netgear website but can be found at
http://www.longview.eclipse.co.uk/netgear/

No.
