DG824M wireless range!

Hi

I have a DG824M and I find with the std little black rubber antenna the
range is not that good, i.e a few rooms and the signal drops off. I have
read some of the FAQs and still dont understand!

OR do I need a bridge or repeater? if so which one will work here?

I have looked on the netgear site and see the Antenna ANT2405, my questions
are:

Will this increase the range of the router?

and the thing I cant get my head around is "wont I need to boast the signal
output from my laptop" as I'm assuming that I will now be able to receive,
but wont the router still pick up my weak laptop signal,
