I have an SMC router (11Mb/s) and I have the following connected to it

Desktop hardwired
Laptop wireless card (2 feet from the router)
Desktop wireless card (other end of the house - has low connection and
connection keeps dropping every hour or thereabouts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

? whats your question ?

- move the router so the desktop gets better reception
- get a better card for the desktop (smc and senao both make very good
200mw cards)
- move the desktop so it gets better reception

If you have antennae on the router, move the (point them at the weak spot)
antennae or the router itself. Also, it is a pain in the ass, but change
channels and check reception. I was told to use ch 11 due to my 2.4ghz
phones in my house, but I found channel 6 to be the best, and only a 6 inch
movement of the router and pointing the antenna has made a HUGE difference.
I used to get dropped signals all the time, but now it is nice. To make it
easy, download netstumbler and unable MIDI so you can hear the signal...turn
up the speakers on the other laptop and then go "fine tune" the antennas and
router.

I have moved the router and desktop and changed channels... my laptop works
fine with the same range.. the range that is listed on the card is 300+ feet
and
the distance i would guess is actually about 50-60 ft. (1500 sq ft home - 1
story)

Any other suggestions.. also when running Stumbler the top of the green was
at -75 and the red was about half of that. I assume i want to find a signal
where the red is not there.

Try turning on SSID Broadcast on the AP or router.
