I have several computers with XP and Windows 2000 server. We have a domain
setup instead of workgroups. I understood that my profile would travel with
me no matter what computer I log in at. But my desktop does not exactly
follow my changes to it nor keep icons all in the same places. Sometimes
they are scrambled.
Why is this and can it be rectified?

You have roaming or local profile? You can not have roaming profile because
you are using different operating systems and then you will have problem with
your login and profile.
You can have roaming profile if you use only XP or only w2k O.S. and then
your profile will be updated on every machine, butt first you must logoff
with your machine on-line, because the profile information must be transfered
to the server.
