Does anybody have any information about the pros and cons of the
various desktop gigabit cards?

I'm just looking for the usual combination of low price and CPU load
and high performance, compatibility and reliability :-)

My local catalogue has the 3COM adapter which claims offloaded
checksumming for around twice the price of a Netgear: does this make
any difference?

Thanks

John

Is there really a difference between a $100 3com and a $10 cnet gigabit
card? Really?! Measure it! Come, really. I mean, shit...

What I'm saying is: I strongly, really, totally doubt theres even the
slightest difference.

The more expensive cards may have some type of QoS built in, but unless
youre buything thousands youre hardly likely to notice any difference -
and definitely nothing noteworthy that couldn't be overcome with simple
easy to use freely available software.
