was a bit slow mid morning, occasional timeouts.

However, everything turns to treacle between 4-6pm ish

What kinds of problems? Delays or complete failures?

From here, sometimes it takes 20 or 30 seconds to send via post.d.c.u,
instead of the more normal 2 seconds a few minutes ago at 18:35. But
nothing significantly worse than that.

My experience is that in the morning sending tends to be trouble-free. But
in the afternoon it is frequently slow, or needs retries because of
timeouts or error responses from post.demon.co.uk.
