Rumour has it that tomorrow afternoon Demon are changing all their
broadband users to 2Mb

tomorrow afternoon they are *announcing* a price reduction on their 1M
service and speed increases to 2M where the line is capable (not yet
clear if 2M is at current £29.99 Home1000 price and 1M drops to £24.99
or what)

It's probable that it's similar to what plusnet is doing.
Demon pay BT a fiver * number of customers, and BT then give demon a
schedule of works that they are going to undertake on exchanges across
the country to implement those changes.
This stretches over a few months.
