I've used both internal and external cards (not on the same computer),
and I find the internal has better signal strength. When I would use
my computer with the external card in bed, I'd find that if I arranged
the blankets badly, it would interfere with my signal. With the
internal card, there's no blockage of the antenna (which I think is
built into the screen?). However, other people's milage may vary.
I do find that there's an odd area in my house (at the kitchen table)
where my signal strength goes from weak to non-existent based on
"where" on the table I place my notebook. I think this has to do more
with the construction of my house than my card.
