Dell 2300 and SMC 7004AWBR

I currently am using an SMC 7004AWBR as a wireless AP/bridge (DHCP is turned
off and I'm not using it to route). This simply allows the laptop to talk
with the wired network and use the same wired gateway as everything else. I
now have a PC located in an area outside of the wired area but with no
wireless NIC. I DO, however, have a Dell 2300 which came free with my
switch.

I tried connecting the wired PC to the Dell and configuring it with the same
SSID and channel in AP mode. I was hoping that it would work as a repeater
in this capacity, even though the Dell documentation says that another 2300
must be on the other end.

Is it possible to get wireless access to this wired PC using only this
combo? Thanks in advance.
