How do I get rid of a network I tried to set up between my
laptop and desktop that has caused my connection to the
internet to fail?

On XP go to Control Panel, Network Connections and drag
the connection to the trash can. You may need to use the
Network Wizard or Add Network Connection Wizard to set a
new connection then.

I actually would troubleshoot the properties for the
connections before deleting any of them.
