I have set up a DIY CCTV system - Linksys Cameras send emails on
detecting movement to a Gmail account. The system works well but it
means that I have to log on to my Gmail account to delete the emails to
stop the mailbox filling up. Is there anyway I could automatically
delete emails older than say two weeks?

I have no idea if you can do it with the Web interface.
There is no problem recieving Gmail with a POP3
client like Outlook/Outlook Express using Port 995 ssl

I can log on Ok with any POP3 client and delete them by hand but I was
wondering if there was any way to do it automatically. I have a server
running 24/7 and it would be nice to have a small program on there that
logged onto my gmail account once a day and deleted all emails older than 2
weeks.

Your email client (what are you using) needs to send a DELE command
followed by the message sequence number of the messages flagged to
expire.

In Outlook / OE this is all done invisibly by ticking the appropriate
boxes, and setting the number of days retention, in the advanced properties
of the account.

Its a snap if its Linux: just run fetchmail and pull them all down, and
either let them grow locally, or run a cron job to remove/archive them.
