Delayed Write Failure

Hi there.

I'm confronted with a very frustrating problem that will probably be very
common to a lot of newsgroup readers.

When writing to a newly installed windows 2003 server from a windows xp
client, it often occurs that the user is confronted with a balloon popping
from the system tray, saying:

{Delayed Write Failed}
Windows was unable to save all the data for the file x.
The data has been lost.
This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network
connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

This results in a failure of the write action. The problem only exists with
our xp clients, the 2000 clients don't have this problem. Also does this
problem only exist with one of our 2003 servers; the 2000 servers work fine
as well as 2 other 2003 servers.

I've already read a lot of articles about this problem but none of the
solutions provided worked for me. As this is delaying our xp migration
schedule, you can imagine that I'm getting very frustrated by this problem.

Any help would be welcome.

Thank you in advance

Rene

Thanks for you quick answer, but unfortunately the articles didn't hold a
solution for me. I already knew the ones relevant to me and the ones that
seem irrelevant at first sight didn't work.

That the problem is hardware related doesn't seem likely to me because it
only occurs when using xp (on three different hardware configurations),
windows 2000 works without a prob. The problem does occur on XP without, with
sp1 and sp2, so it's not some kind of update that's causing the problem.

If more information is needed, I will provide you with that as far as I can.

Thanks in advance,

Rene
