Your telephone line is unusual in that it is currently provided via optic
fibre (google this group and uk.telecom for "TPON") for most of its length
to the exchange.
However, ADSL won't work over TPON - it needs to be 100% copper all the back
to the exchange.
It means that BT have to switch/convert your line to a "spare" copper one..
(i.e. either they have "found" some spare copper to use or installed new
copper since your last order failed, for ADSL orders)
Depending on how busy BT are, you are probably looking at days (anything up
to a delay of a week or two)
